Hayes - Vester (1918 flu)

VESTER HAYES

Waveland, Oct 30 -- Vester, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayes, died Tuesday morning about 8:30 of pneumonia. He had been sick about two weeks with influenza and was taken worse on Monday morning. He was 12 years old and is survived by his father, mother, one sister and two brothers, all of whom are sick with the disease. Burial will be some time Wednesday. This is the first death from pneumonia which has occurred in Waveland.

Although the flu has been very prevalent for the past two weeks, and some of the cases of a very serious nature, we escaped without any deaths until Monday, when Vester, the 13 year old son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Hayes died. The entire family have been very ill with the disease and it was reported on Wed. that the second son had died, but this proved to be untrue. Vester Hayes was buried at Judson, Wednesday. afternoon at two. Mrs. Barney Roberts of Judson, the mother of Mrs. Hayes is here looking after the family.
